He was born April 9, 1914 at rural McCune, Kansas, a son of French Horace and Delores "Dolly" (Williams) Parsons. He attended Pea Ridge School, at rural McCune, and graduated with honors from the McCune High School in 1932. He and Ailene Elizabeth McGown were united in marriage on April 15, 1936 at rural McCune. Parsons 1914 ~ 2008 Herman Lewie Parsons, 94, of Girard, died at 1:45 a.m., Friday, June 20, 2008 at the Girard Medical Center. He was born April 9, 1914 at rural McCune, Kansas, a son of French Horace and Delores "Dolly" (Williams) Parsons. He attended Pea Ridge School, at rural McCune, and graduated with honors from the McCune High School in 1932. He and Ailene Elizabeth McGown were united in marriage on April 15, 1936 at rural McCune. She survives in Girard. Herman and Ailene celebrated their 72nd anniversary this year. Herman was a lifelong successful farmer at rural McCune and with Ailene ran a Grade A dairy for many years. Herman had many talents including writing children's stories for his grandson, and poetry. His poetry always included just the right words to honor an individual for the specific occasion. He could fix almost anything, including farm machinery and TVs. He started reading the Wall Street Journal in high school and taught himself computer programming at 65. His faithfulness and devotion to his wife Ailene during her long bout with Alzheimer's is unprecedented. He was a member of the United Chapel Church at rural McCune. In addition to his wife, survivors include: His son - Terry Louis Parsons, and his wife, Marian of Palestine, Texas One grandson - Mark Allen Parsons, DDS, and his wife, Sharon of Whitehouse,Texas One great-granddaughter, Katelyn Michelle Parsons, of Whitehouse, Texas One great-grandson, Brian Matthew Parsons, of Whitehouse, Texas He was preceded in death by brothers Barton, Clarence, Homer, and Charles Parsons and a sister, Esther Powell. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at the United Chapel Church at rural McCune with Rev. Virgil Lempenau officiating. Burial will be in the McCune Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:00 P.M., Monday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard where friends may call after 1:00 Sunday. Memorials are suggested to the United Chapel Church or to the American Alzheimer's Association, and may be left at the funeral home. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the SMITH-CARSON-WALL FUNERAL HOME.
