She was born February 2, 1914 near McCune, a daughter of Clyde McPherson and Gladys Elizabeth (Mullen) McGown. Ailene attended rural schools and graduated from McCune High School in 1931. Read More	GIRARD — Ailene Elizabeth Parsons, 98, of Girard, Kansas died peacefully at 5:15 a.m., Tuesday, August 14, 2012 in the Heritage Nursing Home in Girard after a long bout with Alzheimer's. She was born February 2, 1914 near McCune, a daughter of Clyde McPherson and Gladys Elizabeth (Mullen) McGown. Ailene attended rural schools and graduated from McCune High School in 1931. She earned a teaching certificate from Kansas State Teacher's College, now Pittsburg State University, in Pittsburg and taught at Union and Mound rural schools starting in 1932. Rev. Neher married Ailene and Herman L. Parsons on April 15, 1936 at rural McCune. He preceded her in death on June 20, 2008. Herman and Ailene celebrated their 72nd anniversary in 2008. Ailene was a loving mother and homemaker and enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting and being with her family. She and Herman were a lifelong successful farming team at rural McCune and operated a Grade A dairy. Ailene's garden was her love and the envy of the neighbors. Ailene was an active member of the United Chapel Church at rural McCune and taught children's Sunday school for many years. Survivors are a son, Terry Louis Parsons and his wife Marian of Palestine, Texas; a grandson, Dr. Mark Allen Parsons, DDS and his wife Sharon of Whitehouse, Texas; a great-granddaughter, Katelyn Michelle Holland and her husband Daniel and a great-grandson, Brian Matthew Parsons; a brother, Dean McGown and his wife Geneva of Girard; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Paul, Arthur, Murlin, and Clyde Eugene McGown and her sisters Martha Spease, Ruth Rosalie Crandell, and Gladys Geneieve Ringer. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday at the United Chapel Church at rural McCune with Rev. Virgil Lempenau and Rev. Gaylord DeMoure officiating. Burial will be in the McCune Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard where friends may call after 1:00 p.m., Thursday. Memorials are suggested to the United Chapel Church and the Alzheimer's Association and these may be left at the church or the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.
