Mr. Twedt died Monday morning May 3, at the Morton Plant hospital in Clear Water, Florida, from an extended illness. Masonic Rites will be held Thursday evening at 8pm in the funeral home by Darius Lodge. Herman Stanley Twedt, known as "H. S" or "Doc", was born May 6, 1909 at Roland, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Anna (Hegland) Twedt. He was baptized in infancy and confirmed in the Norwegian Lutheran Church in Roland. He was a graduate of Roland High School in 1927, Mankato Teachers College in 1932. He was employed by the Rand McNally Co., Chicago in the Engraving Department for two years, then served as high school principal in the Alvord, Iowa school system for the next four years. On June 7, 1936, he was united in marriage to Mildred Mae Kraus, their wedding taking place at Kesiter, Minn. For two years he was a bookkeeper with the Wilson Packing Co. in Albert Lea, Minn. Then he became manager of the Kraus Grocery Department store in Manly, as well as operated the Lido Theater here for serveral years. He served as a Boy Scout committeeman, was voted Quartermaster of Allied Theatres in Iowa and Nebraska and served on the Hearld Theatre Committee. Some years ago Mr and Mrs Twedt purchased the Chief Theatre in Britt from the late Frank Bandy. Mr. Twedt was a member of Darius Lodge 431, A. F.& A. M.; Scottish Rite; Consistory and the ZA-GA-Zig Temple in Des Moines. After selling the Teatre to Abe Korey, Mr and Mrs Twedt moved to Florida where he was associated with Disney Land Amusement Park for a few years. Later he and Mrs Twest moved to Tratois, Missouri to 135-3 Lake Road. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, had gone to Canada and Alaska on big game hunts on numerous occasions. He also had made several trips to Norway. He was a member of the Britt Chamber of Commerce, as well as taking much interest in the community at Britt, and also while he resided in Manly. He is survived by his wife, Mildred; his children, Patrick A. and his wife, Barbara of St. Louis, Mo.; Michael S. and his wife, Judy of Ottawa, Kansas; and Karen Mae and her husband, Richard Olson of Littleton, Colorado. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Carrie, Timmy, Cinda and Danny Twedt; Mark, Patricia and Lesa Olson; and two brothers, Larry Twedt of St. Petersburg, Fla.; A most Twedt of Guthrie Center, Iowa; and one sister, Mrs. Bertha McCray of Carmen, Ill.
