Read More	SOURCE: THE ANAMOSA JOURNAL ….FEBRUARY 21, 1929…PAGE 1 HERO STOFFERS Hero Stoffers, one of the most highly respected farmer citizens of Cass Township was found dead in one of his farm buildings last Saturday morning. Mr. Stoffers was seemingly well while he breakfasted with his family that morning and it is supposed that he was seized with a heart attack and died before he could summon aid. His death was a sudden blow to his family and his many friends. Mr. Stoffers was a hard worker and was honest in all his dealings. The deceased was born March 3, 1879 at Roffhausen, Germany, the son of Hero Sr. and Anke Janssen Stoffers. He married Miss Marie Tjaden on March 14th, 1904, and to this union three sons were born In 1911 the family came to this country locating first at Monticello, later residing in Wayne and Richland townships and at the time of his death the family home was in Cass. He is survived by his widow and three sons, Fred, Alvin and Walther, all living at home. He also leaves a sister and three brothers in Germany, Mrs. Marie Hillerns and Fred, Frerich and Hermann. A number of more distant relatives also mourn his untimely death. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Wayne Zion Lutheran church, of which he had been a faithful attendant. Rev. J. Willms had charge of the services and delivered an eloquent tribute to the character of the deceased. Interment was made in the Wayne cemetery.
