Mr. McCaskey passed away Monday morning, September 23, at the Colonial Manor in Anita. Conducting the service was the Rev. Rodger McKinney. Music was provided by Judy Marnin, organist, and the church choir. Herschel McCaskey was born at Ogden, IA, on March 21, 1918, the son of Harry and Flossie Kirkendahl McCaskey. He grew up and attended school at Ogden where he graduated from Ogden high School in 1936. After his formal schooling he drove a truck in the Ogden area. On Nov. 14, 1941, he was married to Bonnie LeMaster at Bethany, MO. He entered the Army Air Corps in 1942 and served in England, North Africa, and Italy. Upon return from service he worked for the Ogden Municipal Utilities until moving to Keosauqua where he worked for that utility until 1957. He then moved to Anita where he was superintendent of the Anita Municipal Utilities until retiring in 1981. Bonnie had preceded him in death in ma of 1979. On September 20, 1980, he was married to Bonnie Cole Gissible. He had been a longtime member of the Methodist Church; was a fifty year member of the American Legion; and was an excellent bowler, participating in three leagures and in many tournaments throughout the state. Surviving are his wife, Bonnie; one son, David McCaskey and wife Cheryl of Anita; one daughter, Jane Pollak and husband John of Ithaca, NY; three step-daughters, Lois Chopard of Madrid, Leona Harris and husband Roger of Palo Cedro, CA, and Sharon Lee and husband Laurie of Belmont, CA; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Dean McCaskey and wife Etta of Kansas City, MO; one sister, Cletus Malcolm and husband Harold of Ogden; nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; and his first wife, Bonnie.
