Boyer Jr., 67, of Jefferson, died Friday, Sept. 11, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Betty Brown Boyer. They were married for 44 years. Born Sept. 27, 1930, in Jefferson, he was the son of the late Herschel T. and Mary A. Thrasher Boyer. He was the stepson of Mary House Boyer of Jefferson. Mr. Boyer was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Jefferson. He was a charter-member of the Jefferson Ruritan Club. He graduated from Frederick High School in 1947. He worked in farming, and later was employed with Canaam Steel, formerly Todd Steel of Point of Rocks. Prior to his retirement, he worked with Montgomery County public schools in the maintenance department. Surviving in addition to his wife and stepmother are one daughter, Debbie Anne Proffitt of Jefferson; one granddaughter, Stacey L. Boyer of Jefferson; one brother, Michael Eugene Boyer and wife Janie of Jefferson; one sister, Mary Louise Boyer Van Sant and husband Edward R. of San Antonio, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Boyer was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Alan Boyer; and two brothers, William Albert and Kenneth Lee Boyer. There will be no calling at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church 3864 Jefferson Pike, Jefferson. Mr. Boyer's pastor, the Rev. Virginia K. Price, will officiate. Interment will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Jefferson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to either Frederick County Branch, American Heart Association, 1080 W. Patrick St., 11-150, Frederick, Md. 21703; or Kidney Foundation of Maryland, 1107 Kenilworth Ave., #202, Baltimore, Md. 21204. Arrangement are handled by Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.
