OBITUARY: 1901 July 19, Webster City Tribune--Hezekiah Fisher was born in Hancock County, Ohio, August 9, 1840, and died July 11, 1901. Mr. Fisher was an old soldier, enlisting in the cause of his country at the beginning of the war; serving until he was wounded and discharged; afterward re-enlisting in the 18th Iowa infantry and faithfully serving his country until the close of the war. He came to Iowa in 1856; was married to Miss Susan Smith in November, 1860. To this union was born five sons and five daughters, three of the family having preceded the father across the dark stream. The mother with seven children, a host of friends and relatives are left to mourn his departure. Some of the children are married and have homes of their own, while some are still at home and will keenly feel the loss of a father's presence and kindly admonitions. The funeral was held from the family residence near the old Tunnell mill on Saturday, July 18, at 11 am, Rev. Byron J. Clark preaching the sermon. Interment took place in the Homer cemetery. A large company of friends and relatives, and a fine delegation of the GAR were present, to pay the last tributes of respect, to a good neighbor, a kind father and a true soldiers.
