Description	:	Hilma Maria Elevera was born March 25, 1893 in Irving Township, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota. She was the fourth of six children born to John & Mathilda (Johnson) Mogren. She began her education in country school in Minnesota and attended there until she was 11 years old and the family moved to Roseland Township, Burke County, North Dakota where her father had a homestead. She continued her education in country school here. After studying the Holy Scripture and Martin Luther's catechism, she affirmed her Christian faith before the congregation of Elmdale Lutheran Church in Niobe, North Dakota. Hilma married Charles... Read More	Hilma Maria Elevera was born March 25, 1893 in Irving Township, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota. She was the fourth of six children born to John & Mathilda (Johnson) Mogren. She began her education in country school in Minnesota and attended there until she was 11 years old and the family moved to Roseland Township, Burke County, North Dakota where her father had a homestead. She continued her education in country school here. After studying the Holy Scripture and Martin Luther's catechism, she affirmed her Christian faith before the congregation of Elmdale Lutheran Church in Niobe, North Dakota. Hilma married Charles Elgie on February 2, 1915 at the Burke County Courthouse in Bowbells, ND. They made their home on her parent's homestead and Charles engaged in farming. After a short time, they moved into Kenmare where they made their home. Hilma was employed as a cook at the Irving Hotel for many years. From 1942 to 1948, she owned and operated the Elgie Café in Kenmare. Her husband died in 1952. In her later years, she made her home with her son Brian. Hilma died on June 10, 1962 at North Hollywood, California. Her funeral was held at the Methodist Church in Kenmare on June 16th with burial in the Lakeview Cemetery next to her husband.
