Lawson, of Calhoun Falls, who died at 7:30 o'clock Wednesday night were held Thursday afternoon at Long Cane cemetery and conducted by Rev. W.L. Mullikin, pastor of the Methodist, Church of Abbeville assisted by Rev. John A. McMurray of the Presbyterian Church of this city; Rev. G.M. Telford of Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church, and Rev. Mr. Goodwin, pastor of the Methodist Church at Calhoun Fall's. Mr. Lawson was 70 years of age at the time of his death and had spent his life in this county. For a number of years he was a bookkeeper for the Augustus W. Smith and Sons Co., of Abbeville, later going to Calhoun Falls as cashier of the Bank of Calhoun Falls. Mr. Lawson left the bank a number of years ago, however, and engaged in farming until his death. He was a son of Hiram W., Lawson and Frances J. Lawson. His father was a native of Connecticut while his mother was a native of Abbeville County. Mr. Lawson married a Miss Woolsey of Syracuse, N.Y., who preceded him to the grave a number of years ago. Mr. Lawson had been in ill health for sometime but his condition was not considered serious, until Wednesday. His son, Mr. W.B. Lawson, of Spartanburg left Calhoun Falls Wednesday afternoon for his home and a few minutes later his father suffered a stroke of paralysis while talking to Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Blake. He did not regain consciousness. Mr. Lawson was a member of the Methodist Church of this city and was loved and respected by the people who knew him. The beautiful floral offerings yesterday afternoon was evidence of the place he held in the hearts of his many friends thru-out the city and county. Mr. Lawson is survived by three sons, Frank W., of Birmingham, Ala., William B., of Spartanburg, and; James, of Pacolet. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. W. D. Wilson, of Abbeville. The following friends of Mr. Lawson acted as pall bearers: G.O. Hall, L.M. Parker and C.H. Taylor, of Calhoun Falls; and P.A. Roche, W.S. DuPre and W.F. Perrin, of Abbeville. Honorary pail bearers were: J.A. Gilliam, T.P. Thomson, Richard Sondley and R.S. Link.
