Survivors are his wife Elsie, four daughters, Sue McCarl of Davenport, Marilyn Wilcox of Des Moines, Jerilyn Gordon of Joshua, Texas, and Cheryl at home; five sons, Merle of North Dakota, Dixie Jo of Indianola, Lois of Lacona, and Billy and Bud both of Des Moines; two brothers, Berle and Virgil, both of Des Moines, a sister, Lois Whitsel of Oskaloosa; and 24 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
