Burial, in charge of Squires Funeral Home, was in Lake City Cemetery. Mr. Ort, son of John and Hattie Ort, was born in Ortonville, Mich., July 18, 1890. He died unexpectedly at Jefferson, April 28, as the result of a heart attack. Mr. Ort spent his childhood and young manhood in Michigan, and came to Lake City, Iowa when he was 18 years old. He spent the remainder of his life in Lake City, except for three and a half years in government work in Long Beach, Calif. In his young manhood he became a member of the Salvation Army. On December 21, 1914, he was married to Ethel Sharkey at Carroll. At various times Mr. Ort did carpentry, paper hanging, road work, and other employment. At the time of his death, he had been operating a tiling machine near Jefferson. Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, a sister, and two grandchildren. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ethel Ort, Lake City; four sons, Kenneth Ort, Nemaha; Burney Ort, Jefferson; Warren Ort, Long Beach, Calif.; and Charles Ort, Spokane, Wash.; three daughters, Mrs. Frank Knipp (Lura) Kokomo, In; Mrs. Keith Caskey, (Darlene), Rockwell City; and Mrs. Gene Scollon (Betty) Dubuque; 13 grandchildren; and one brother, Barney Ort, Hollywood, Calif.
