Homer grew up in the Decatur County under the loving care of his Grandparents Frank & Jennie [Baker] Metts He received a common school education and was a farmer by occupation. Hormer Briner married in Leon, Decatur County, Iowa, on May 31st, 1928, a local Grand River lady, Velma Irene Wycoff. This union was blessed with two daughters and two sons. Hormer was preceded in death by his son William Keith Briner in 1983, sister: Pearl [Briner] Shields, his parents Jasper & Della (Metts) Briner, his loving grandparents, Frank & Jennie [Baker] Metts and his in-laws Elsie Opal [Bryant] and William Ezra Wycoff.
