Randall Wayne: b. 28 Feb 1910; d. 26 Dec 1991 OBITUARY 1: The Republican Newspaper (Oakland, Maryland), Thursday, April 24, 1947 - Page 4 Homer Friend aged 85 years, 11 months, 25 days, died at his home in Friendsville lst Friday morning, April 18, following a lingering illness. He was the son of the late Joad and Amy Friend. His entire life was spent in the Friendsville community. He served as a public school teacher for a number of years, was a member of the Friendsville City Council and served as a judge of the Orphan's Court for two terms. In 1895 he was united in marriage to Katherine Jane Vansickle, and to this union were born three sons and one daughter, who survive: Owen Friend, Cambridge Springs, Pa.; Miss Lena Elizabeth Friend, State hospital, Baltimore; Frank Monroe Friend, of Baltimore; and Randall Wayne Friend, Hopwood, Pa. Also surviving are six grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church in Friendsville on Sunday afternoon, April 20 at 2 o'clock, with Rev. Howard Wristen, pastor, officiating, Interment was in Friendsville cemetery, Pallbearers were Clarence, Allen, and Marcus Friend, William Burnside, Daily Groves and Ronald Lish. Service were held at the Methodist Chruch there with Rev. Howard Wriston,, pastor, officiating, and interment was in Friendsville Cemetery. A son of the late Joab and Amy Fried, he spent his entire life in Friendsville and was a member of the Friendsville Town Council. Besides his widow, Mrs. Katherine Jane VanSickle Friend, he is survived b a daughter, Miss Lena Elizabeth Friend, Baltimore; three sons, Owen Friend, Cambridge Springs, Pa.; Frank Monroe Friend, Baltimore; and Randall Wayne Friend, Hopwood, Pa.; six grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
