Banks, member of well known Sioux township family, was killed Tuesday night when a car on which he was working slipped off the jacks and inflicted head injuries and crushed his chest. The accident took place at his home in Sioux township where he lived with his mother, Mrs. Florence Banks. Homer Banks was born August 5, 1901, and had spent his entire life in Plymouth county, assisting in the operation of the stock farm owned by his mother. In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Miss Vera Banks and Mrs; Marion Postlewait, and 10 brothers, Alfred, Alvord, Howell, Orel, Belmar, Wurth, Emmett. Lloyd, Joseph and Arden, all of Westfield. The day after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941, Banks enlisted in the navy and served until his discharge in January of this year. He,was assigned to P. T. boats in the Pacific and received two citations, one May 24, 1943, when he saved a disabled craft, and the other for meritorious work in connection with repair of the P. T. fleet from July 16 to December 1, 1943. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Friday in the Westcott-Doughty-Chandler funeral home in Sioux City with Rev.
