She was born in Winn on July 26, 1928 the daughter of the late William and Maye (Farrington) Whitney. Hopia graduated from Mattawamkeag High School at age 16 and received her nursing degree from Sister's Hospital in Waterville. On October 6, 1951 she married Robert D.
