Description	:	Howard C. Hotle, 73, of 303 1/2 East Washington Street (Washington, Iowa) died Friday, March 29, 1968 at the Veterans Hospital in Knoxville, Iowa. He had been in failing health for three years and critically ill for the past week. The funeral will be Monday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the Marion Avenue United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Vern Elgin in charge. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery. A memorial for the church has been established in memory of Mr. Hotle. Jones Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements. Mr. Hotle was employed by the Washington Community School for 17 years until his retirement. He was known to hundreds of the students as "Dusty" Hotle. He was a member of the Marion Avenue United Presbyterian Church and the Local Builders Sunday School class which he attended as long as his health permitted. He was born January 6, 1895 in Dutch Creek Township of Washington County, a son of William and Mary (Wilkin) Hotle. He was reared in this county and married January 8, 1917 to Vella Benson. He was an Army veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion. Surviving are his wife; two children, Richard Hotle and Mrs. Roger (Audry) Lance of Washington; his mother, Mrs. William Hotle of Shenks Rest Home in Wellman; and these brothers and sisters: Mrs. Howard (Mable) Baker of Washington, Mrs. Homer (Cecile) Mayer of Brighton. Mrs. Clarence (Lucile) Fulton and Mrs. William (Alice) Edgar of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Gerald (Ethel) Graf of Wellman, Homer of Moline, William Daryl of Rock Island and Gilbert of Marion, Iowa.
