Nicholson and Martha Howard Nicholson, was born in Superior on April 6, 1891. Nicholson and Martha Howard Nicholson, was born in Superior on April 6, 1891. Mr. Nicholson was raised and educated in Superior, being in the first graduating class of the old high school building in 1909. At the age of 18, he was employed with the Superior Post Office as a window clerk. In 1915 he was named to a newly-created position of assistant postmaster, serving in this capacity under six different postmasters. He retired from the post office in December, 1957, after 48 years of service. On April 25, 1912, he was married to Cora Maude Amberson in Superior. To this union three children were born. He was a life-long member of the Methodist Church and holder of the Jordan Medal in the Masonic Lodge, signifying being the oldest member in the Superior Lodge. Preceding him in death were his parents' his wife, Maude; an infant son; a sister, Roa; and a brother, Foster. He is survived by one son, Dean of Sanger, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Glen Koester (Margaret Jane) of Guide Rock; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren and other relatives and many friends. Mr. Nicholson died at the Nuckolls County Hospital, Superior, on Feb. 25 at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 19 days. Funeral services were held from the First United Methodist Church in Superior on Wednesday, Feb. 18. Rev. Max McCamley officiated. Burial and Masonic Rites were in the Evergreen Cemetery. The Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior in charge of the funeral arrangements.
