Mr. Blanchard was born September 10, 1918 in Paris, Ohio, the son of C. Lee and Alta Mae (Grise) Blanchard, and lived most of his life in this area. He worked for the Columbiana County Highway Department, retiring in 1985 as foreman of the North Georgetown Outpost. Kensington--Howard D. Blanchard, 83, formerly of State Route 172, died at 5:25 a.m. Friday at the Nentwick Convalescent Center. Mr. Blanchard was born September 10, 1918 in Paris, Ohio, the son of C. Lee and Alta Mae (Grise) Blanchard, and lived most of his life in this area. He worked for the Columbiana County Highway Department, retiring in 1985 as foreman of the North Georgetown Outpost. Mr. Blanchard also farmed for 29 years, and was a longtime member of the Columbiana County Farm Bureau, serving on its council for 45 years. He also was on the United Local Board of Education for eight years, serving as its president for two years. Mr. Blanchard was a member of the New Garden United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Dorothea (Lotz) Blanchard, whom he married May 26, 1940. Mrs. Blanchard also resides at Nentwick's, 500 Selfridge Street, East Liverpool, 43920. Survivors also include two daughters, Rose Blanchard of Westerville and Mrs. Richard (Frances) Sobek of Merriman, Kansas; two sons, Lester of Columbiana and John of Irondale; a sister, Mrs. Hansford (Anna Marie) Ayers of Alliance; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold, and three sisters, Pauline Miller, Ethel Lautzenheiser and Edna Anthony. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Maple-Cotton Funeral Home in Kensington. The Rev. Enzie Wade of his church will officiate. Burial will be in Moultrie Chapel Cemetery.
