Howard Herman Warneking, 86 years of age, of Holdrege, (formerly of Loomis, Nebraska), passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege. Howard was born December 3, 1931 on a farm near Bostwick, Nebraska, the sixth of seven children born to Herman Henry and Mary Frances (Howard) Warneking. Howard grew up in the Superior, Nebraska area, where received his education at Superior Public Schools, and graduated from Superior High School with the class of 1951. On July 24, 1952, he was inducted into the United States Army and served his country until his honorable discharge on June 30, 1954. While serving in the Korean War, Howard worked in communications. On August 8, 1954, he was united in marriage to Mary Lou Hare at the Baptist Church in Superior, Nebraska, and to this union three children were born: Linda, Lee and Tim. The couple made their home in Superior, until later moving to Loomis, Nebraska in 1964. Howard began his working career for the Superior CO-OP, and then went to school to become an electrician. After moving to Loomis, Howard owned and operated his own electrical business, called Warneking Electric. In 1969, Howard was also employed by Becton-Dickinson for 25 years until his retirement in 1994. Howard and Mary Lou enjoyed gardening, playing cards, bingo, and most all they cherished the time spent with their grandchildren. On June 21, 2017, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Lou. In his spare time, Howard could either be found fishing in his boat, working on different remodeling projects on their house, or enjoying his hobby of woodworking. He loved sharing his talents, building toy boxes for all of his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Howard also built shelves, and dressers. Howard was an avid Husker fan, was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W., member of the Loomis Commercial Club, and served on the Loomis Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Besides his parents, and his wife, Mary Lou; Howard was preceded in death by his brothers: Glenn Warneking and his wife, Dorothy, and Frances Warneking; sisters: Rosa Lee Imfoff and her husband, Stanley; Elfrieda Giles and her husbands: Charles Keith and Harold Swanson, and Leroy Giles; Ellen Fuller and her husband, Floyd; and Doris Morris and her husband, Keith. He leaves to celebrate his life: his three children: Linda Brown and her husband, Kent of Axtell, Nebraska; Lee Warneking and his wife, Virginia of Wood River, Nebraska; and Tim Warneking of Grand Island, Nebraska; four grandchildren: Jeff Warneking and his wife, Emilie of Elkhorn, Nebraska; Brian Warneking and his wife, Vanessa of Omaha, Nebraska, Dustin Brown of Axtell, Nebraska; and Rachel Brown-Mutchie and her husband, John Mutchie of Waverly, Nebraska; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
