Howard was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Winnie Henderson, Mildred Smith, Edith Holub and Lois Ellwood. Howard was born September 1, 1924, in the home where he lived his entire life, the son of Wallis and Minnie (Smith) Burnside. He graduated from Coggon High School. Howard married Barbara Wise in 1951. She passed away in 1955. On May 31, 1958, he married Lillian Elizabeth Fobian in Centerville, Iowa. Howard was a farmer and also worked at Collins Radio for 23 years. He was a member of St. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church. Howard enjoyed woodworking, crossword puzzles and gardening. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was proud of all the accomplishments and activities they were involved in.
