Description	:	Howard Holte passed away on May 3, 2019 at Tioga Medical Center Long Term Care. He was born on September 7, 1927 to John and Josie (Anderson) Holte at White Earth, North Dakota. He spent part of his childhood living in Saskatchewan, Canada. Howard attended school at Lunds Valley and Powers Lake. In 1946 he attended basic training at Fort McClellan, Alabama and then was sent to Fort Lewis, Washington where he waited for his overseas orders. Read More	Howard Holte passed away on May 3, 2019 at Tioga Medical Center Long Term Care. He was born on September 7, 1927 to John and Josie (Anderson) Holte at White Earth, North Dakota. He spent part of his childhood living in Saskatchewan, Canada. Howard attended school at Lunds Valley and Powers Lake. In 1946 he attended basic training at Fort McClellan, Alabama and then was sent to Fort Lewis, Washington where he waited for his overseas orders. He arrived in Yokahama, Japan on Thanksgiving Day of 1946 where he served as a PFC with the Occupation Troop and Paratrooper with the Air Borne Division 511th Regiment, 11th Division until June of 1947. Howard worked at various jobs including working with his Uncle Bennie Holte in Montana, a logging camp in Washington, and with the railroad section gang for Great Northern. He worked as a meat cutter in Powers Lake for Eddie Erie and Cliff and Harriet Jorgenson and then in Stanley for Ed Strege and Howard Nelson. In 1952 Howard started farming and moved to his family farm in 1953. He started driving a rolligon on the North Slope of Alaska in 1975 and retired from that in the spring of 1986 and retired from farming in 1987. Howard was married to Lupe Van Berkom and they were later divorced. They had 2 children, Lorrie and Cameron. Howard is survived by his children, Lorrie (Bruce) Middaugh of Fargo and Cameron (Angie) Holte of Powers Lake; grandchildren Scott (Mandi) Middaugh and Reid Middaugh of Fargo, Cameron Holte and Connor Holte of Powers Lake; step grandson Brady Thompson of Tioga: sister Junice Axelson of Washington; great grandchildren Oscar and Cora Middaugh, Harlow and Summit Middaugh, Caden and Bella Holte and Aurora Holte. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Josie; sister Beulah Smith, brother Pleonard Holte and twin brothers, Daryl and Dwayne Holte. Contributor: S Hemingway (46900131) •
