Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m., Monday from Faith United Methodist Church, the Rev. Dennis Sillaman officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial, Gardens. Dennis Sillaman officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial, Gardens. Mr. Bloomfield was born July 18, 1907 in Minden, Neb., the son of Odius and Rosa M. Doyle Bloomfield and came to the Kelly community where his family homestead ed. He received his early schooling at Kelly and Sterling before going to work for the Great Western Sugar factory. Mr. Bloomfield entered the U.S. Navy in January 1942 and served in the Pacific Theater of Operations during World War 11. He was discharged from the navy in 1945, returned to Sterling and the Great Western Sugar factory. He later worked for the Highline Electric Association and in the oil fields as a truck driver before going to work for the Postal Department as a rural and city mail carrier for over 20 years. He retired in 1974. He married Mildred B. Gillespie May 30, 1942, in San Diego, Calif. Mr Bloomfield was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Sterling American Legion Post No. 20, Jake Uhrig Post No. 3541 Veterans of Foreign Wars of Sterling, the I.O.O.F. Logan Lodge No. 69 and Sterling Lodge No. 1336 B.P.O.E. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mildred B. Bloomfield of Sterling; a daughter, Mrs. Sharon Murphy of Reston, Va.; four sisters, Mrs. Jennie Kerns of Burbank, Calif., Mrs. Blanche Krukow of Sterling, Mrs. Birdell Johnson of Sunnyside, Wash., and Mrs. Marian Rowan of Harlington, Texas and two granddaughters, Heather Murphy and Kelli Murphy, both of Reston, Va. Chaney-Walters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
