The son of Samuel S. and Lena L. Karst Radke, he was born July 30, 1924, in Russell County, Kansas. He married Betty Ann Schwien on June 12, 1949, at Milberger, Kansas. he was a lifetime farmer and stockman with his son, Jon, and also owned and operated Hubert S. and Son Dirt Construction for 55 years with his son, Sammy. The love of his life was operating his motor grader. He was a lifetime resident of the Milberger area. He was a lifetime resident of the Milberger area. He was a member of the United Emmanuel Lutheran church, where he was baptized, confirmed, and married. He served on the church council numerous times, was president of Area 2 Lutheran Men in Mission, and recently served on the Church Call Committee. He also was active for Milberger Memorial Day Veterans and Activities Association. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 6240 and American Legion Post 99, both of Russell, Kansas. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1942 to 1944 i heavy artillery as a heavy equipment operator. Survivors include: wife, Betty Radke, Russel, sons, Sammy H. Radke, and his wife, Penny, Milberger, Kansas, and Jon F. Radke and his wife, Brenda, Hays, Kansas, daughters, Kathleen M. Angle and her husband, Steven, Hays, Kansas; and Elizabeth A. Radke, Milberger, Kansas,; a sister, Esther L. Bitter, Garden City, Kansas; four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a foster sister, Rachel Keister. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 207, at the United Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Milberger, Kansas, with pastor Amy Austin; Pastor Robert Krier; and Amy Truhe, PMA, officiating. The burial will be conducted at the Milberger Cemetery, Milberger, Kansas, with military grave side rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. The visitation is today, Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and from 9:30 a.m. until the service time at the United Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Milberger, Kansas. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Clara Barton Hospital Foundation or KPRD Praise Radio, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, PO Box 146, Hoisington, KS 67544. Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington, Kansas, was in charge of the arrangements.
