Memorial Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Rev. William Hamill will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Chapman (deceased), Ian Kondoff, Megan Bohlander and all of Hugh’s nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be Steve Compton, Steve Woods, Jon Chapman, Patrick Chapman, Karyn Kondoff and Katie Bohlander. Hugh was born on August 2, 1946, in South Dakota. He was adopted by Harold “Bill” and Mildred (Mathison) Brower. Following graduation from Watertown High School in 1964, he attended LBI in Minneapolis, MN. In 1966, Hugh married Martha Gustafson in Minneapolis, MN. He then enlisted in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Hawaii. Following an honorable discharge he resided in Fremont, NE. Hugh received his Bachelor’s degree in 1971 from Midland Lutheran College. In 1973, Hugh obtained his Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Nebraska in Omaha, NE. In 1994, Hugh moved to Rapid City, where he worked and lived until his death. As a teenager Hugh was a counselor at Outlaw Ranch and that is where he developed his deep love for the Black Hills. He enjoyed music, especially Celtic Thunder and Classical. He also enjoyed writing computer programs and watching every Star Trek TV episode and movie. Hugh especially loved his cat, Miss Sally. In his earlier years, Hugh was an avid golfer. Hugh is survived by two daughters: Karyn (Jason) Kondoff of Pflugerville, TX, and Katie Bohlander of Omaha, NE; two grandchildren: Ian Kondoff and Megan Bohlander; one sister, Judi M. (Howard) Clark, of Watertown, SD; two brothers: Steve (Diane) Woods of Milbank, SD, and Steve (Sue) Compton of Fremont, NE; and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, David Gregerson; one sister, Ellen (Gregerson) Johnson; and one nephew, Charles Chapman. Obituary and photo by Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel.
