He is preceded in death by his father, Isaiah Harris. He is survived by his wife, Susie K. Harris, beloved mother, Bertha Mae Harris, his sons, Brad (Cathie) Harris, Dewayne Thompson, Brian Thompson and their mother, Corrine Harris. His four stepchildren: Kathleen (Dale) Bissette, Steve (Gina) Schemerhorm, David (Lynette) Lang and Patricia (Patrick) Harrison. Brother: Tommy (Bonnie) Harris and Sisters: Genevieve (Joe) Ervolino, Della Jones, Barbara Gazdick, Renee Johnson, Ann (Tommy) Hunter and Carol (Leon) Douglass. He also had nine step-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are nephews: Mike Kalis, Bruce Gazdick, Danny Harris, Brett Johnson, Jason Hunter and a close friend from childhood, Bud Brown. Funeral Services for Mr. Harris will be conducted Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at 11:00 AM in the Pine Level Methodist Church, Baxter, FL with the Rev. Fred Raulerson and Rev. Johnny Yarborough, officiating. Interment will follow in the North Prong Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, September 4, 2006 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the memory of Hugh "Shot" Harris to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257. Guerry Funeral Home, 420 E. Macclenny Avenue Macclenny, Florida is in charge of arrangements.
