Born May 5, 1910, in Mozer, W.Va., he was the son of the late William Cecil and Emma S. (Graham) Calhoun. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Delphia M. (Yokum) Calhoun, on May 11, 1993; one son, Larry Calhoun; two brothers, William "Bill" Calhoun, and Charles R. Calhoun; five sisters, Minnie Kimble, Nora Arbogast, Gladys Heavener, Annie Leach, and Jessie Harman. Calhoun, 89, of Petersburg, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at the Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg. Born May 5, 1910, in Mozer, W.Va., he was the son of the late William Cecil and Emma S. (Graham) Calhoun. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Delphia M. (Yokum) Calhoun, on May 11, 1993; one son, Larry Calhoun; two brothers, William "Bill" Calhoun, and Charles R. Calhoun; five sisters, Minnie Kimble, Nora Arbogast, Gladys Heavener, Annie Leach, and Jessie Harman. Mr. Calhoun was a member of the Gordon Chapel United Methodist Church in Landes where he served as trustee. He was a life-time farmer, was a construction worker and a foreman for the WV State Department of Highways in Grant County. He resided at the Grant County Nursing Home since January 27, 1995. Surviving are three sons, Dwight Calhoun, of Petersburg, W.Va., Ralph Calhoun, of Petersburg, W.Va., and Jimmy Calhoun, of Hurricane, W.Va.; one sister, Leona Schell, of E.A. Hawse Continuous Care Center, Baker, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, on Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be at the funeral home, on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Gary Phillips and the Rev. John Wildman, officiating. Burial will be in the Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville, W.Va. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gordon Chapel United Methodist Church or Charity of Choice.
