Brodersen was born on March 29, 1897 in Otter Creek Township near Schleswig the son of George and Marie Hansen Brodersen and died April 12, 1988, at the Veterans Hospital Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 91 years. Hugo was raised on the family farm and attended rural school in Otter Greek Township. After his schooling he continued to farm. Brodersen (1897 - 1988) Hugo F. Brodersen was born on March 29, 1897 in Otter Creek Township near Schleswig the son of George and Marie Hansen Brodersen and died April 12, 1988, at the Veterans Hospital Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 91 years. Hugo was raised on the family farm and attended rural school in Otter Greek Township. After his schooling he continued to farm. He was united in marriage to Lillie Ericksen on January 14, 1920, at Schleswig. To this union they were blessed with three children. Hugo and Lillie lived and farmed on the family farm until 1977, at which time they retired and moved to Schleswig. Lillie died on August 26, 1982. He was baptized on May 29, 1897, and later confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. Hugo loved to farm and spent a lot of time fishing around the area. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, Fred Brodersen and Hans Brodersen and one sister, Edna Wieck. Survivors include, his son, LeRoy Brodersen and his wife Genevieve of Schleswig; two daughters, LaRue and her husband Melvin Schultz of Schleswig and Beverly and her husband Clarence Borre of Arlington Heights, Illinois; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one sister-in-law, Hilda Brodersen of Denison. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 15, 1988, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig with Pastor, Richard Nelson officiating. Burial was in Morgan Cemetery at Schleswig. Mrs. Marlene Hight was organist for congregational hymns of Rock of Ages and Nearer My God To Thee. Honorary pallbearers were Randall Borre, Darrell Brodersen, DeWayne Schultz, Gary Schultz; Larry Sheeley, Ricky Brodersen, Erick Sheeley, Jason Schultz, Aaron Schultz, Kyle Brodersen and Damon Schultz.
