Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton. Mr. Edmonds died Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at Garden Terrace in Overland Park. He was born Nov. 30, 1918, in McLouth, the son of Elmer A. and Jesse Courtney Edmonds. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1936. He received a music education degree in 1941 and a master's degree in music composition and theory in 1949 from Kansas University. He did post graduate work at Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y. Mr. Edmonds served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a music teacher for 38 years in Anthony, California, Oklahoma and New Hampshire before he began teaching in Leavenworth Public Schools in 1967. He retired in 1981. He was an accomplished pianist and served as organist at the Garden Terrace Nursing Home. He attended Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church and was a past member of Congregational Church in Anthony. He married Berniece E. Lingenfelder on March 8, 1945, in Newton. She survives, of the home. Other survivors include two sons, Alan R., Overland Park, and Kent L., Lomita, Calif.; a daughter, Kathryn A. Ballou, Leawood; and two brothers, Ernest, Leroy, and Leonard, Tucson, Ariz.
