Description	:	Funeral services for Hyacinth F. Selders, 82, of Creighton will be held Wednesday, May 10 1995 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ludger Catholic Church in Creighton. Reverends Ralph O'Donnell and Jerome Spenner will officiate with burial in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers are her children, honorary pallbearers her grandchildren. Hyacinth F. (Nothem) Shaffer Selders was born December 18, 1912 near Brunswick, Nebraska to Jon P. and Mary (Schomer) Nothem. She died May 6, 1995 at her home in Creighton, Nebraska at the age of eighty two years. She attended school in Brunswick and St. Ludger Academy in Creighton. She graduated from Brunswick High School in 1929. It was while she was a student at St. Ludger, that she met Leo H. "Buzzy" Shaffer. They were married October 8, 1935 at Plainview. They lived and farmed at Creighton and Brunswick and later moved back to Creighton, where they purchased their home place. They farmed there until Leo died in August of 1966. They were the parents of six children, Larry, Marenna, Jon, Gene, Ann and Michel. After Leo's death, Hyacinth worked for Dr. Wright of Creighton. In 1970 she married Earl Selders and lived in Norfolk, where she worked at J.C. Penneys. They later lived in Plainview, where they owned and operated The Headquarters. Upon retiring they returned to Creighton. Earl died in 1987. Hyacinth was devoted to her family and was a wonderful homemaker and cook. She loved to watch baseball games, read, play card with her grandkids, go fishing and make ceramics. She also enjoyed quilting and crafting. She was a member of St. Ludger Parish, Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America, the Busy Bee Club and VFW Auxiliary. She is survived by her children and spouses, Larry and Frances Shaffer of Niobrara, Marenna and Harold Theis of Ainsworth, Jon and Joyce Shaffer of Spalding, Gene and Pat Shaffer of Creighton, Ann and Warren Wortman of Creighton and Michel and Juiane Shaffer of Plainview; 19 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers, Wayne and Jon Nothem Jr., sister, Helen Russell, her husbands and two grandchildren. ...The Creighton News 10 May 1995
