Description	:	Heart Attack Takes Life of Leo Shaffer, 54 Leo Shaffer, 54, died Friday night at Lundberg Memorial Hospital after suffering a heart attack earlier in the day. He apparently was in good health and his death was unexpected. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning at St. Ludger Catholic Church with the Rev. Daniel E. Galas officiating. Burial was in St. Ludger Cemetery. Leo Hubert Shaffer was born Dec. 3, 1911 at Creighton, a son of George and Rose Shaffer. He attended St. Ludger Academy. On Oct. 8, 1936 he was married to Hyacinth F. Nothem at St. Paul's Catholic Church at Plainview. Six children were born to them. Mr. Shaffer farmed near Brunswick until 1941, when the family moved to a farm west of Creighton. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He served as assistant coach at St. Ludger Academy from 1958 to 1963, working with the baseball team. His teams won the Class C state tournaments in 1959 and 1961. He also managed the town baseball team from 1962 to 1964. On occasions he assisted with the Junior Legion and Midget baseball teams. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Marenna) Theis of Ainsworth and Ann, age 18 at home; four sons, Larry of Brunswick, Jon of Bloomfield, Gene and Michael, 15, at home; six grandchildren; one brother, George Shaffer of Maywood, Calif. and two sisters, Mrs. Joe Kocina and Miss Adeline Shaffer of Creighton.
