Purdy Called By Death This community mourns the passing of Mrs. G.H. Purdy, 70 years old, who died at her home in Hedrick at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday after one year's illness. She was a life resident of Hedrick and vicinity and had lived in this city for thirty-nine years. Mrs. Purdy will be greatly missed as she was always willing to help anyone in illness and trouble. She was a kind and loving mother and wife. Ida Adelaide Rickett, daughter of William and Amanda [Dimmitt] Rickett, was born Aug 25, 1863 in Wapello Co., Iowa and departed this life Feb. 28, 1934 at the age of 70 years, 6 months, and 3 days. She was united in marriage to Gabe H. Purdy, Nov. 9, 1892 in Ottumwa, Iowa. To this union one child was born. She is mourned by her husband, one son, two grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends. The deceased was a loving wife, a devoted mother, a friend to the community where she will be greatly missed. Besides her mother and father, she is preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. They do not bid her good-bye, but good-night, believing they will meet again in the eternal morning. Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. B.G. Hankins. Music was furnished by a mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Roy Reynolds, Mrs. Millikin, R. Hedges, and Max Amelang. Burial was in the McCormick Cemetery at Highland Center.
