THE BAYARD NEWS - Thursday, November 2nd, 1972 - Following a long period of illness and considerable hospitalization, death came to Mrs Ida Anna Corbett at St Anthony's hospital in Carroll Tuesday evening. A pioneer of the Coon Rapids community, Mrs. Corbett was born October 25, 1884, and she observed her eighty-eighth birthday last Wednesday. Daughter of John and Emma Timmons Kennedy, she was born on the Kennedy farm north of Coon Rapids. She attended rural schools and was graduated from the Coon Rapids high school. Later she was graduated from a business school and taught country schools and worked in banks. On November 3, 1915, she was married to James H Corbett of Bayard and she made her home in Bayard from that time until she entered the nursing home at Carroll. Mr and Mrs Corbett were parents of a daughter Margaret (Mrs CF) Greenfield. Mr Corbett died July 17, 1944. Besides her daughter and son-in-law, Mrs Corbett is survived by four grandchildren and a brother, Clarence Kennedy, and a sister, Mrs Bertha Murrane, both of Coon Rapids. Always active in community affairs, Mrs Corbett was a charter member of the Bayard Woman's Club and until the time of her death was the oldest living past president. In addition, she was a charter member of the Delphian Society of Bayard, the Catholic Daughters of America and the St Patrick's Catholic Church. Mrs Corbett was one of the founders and a member of the original board of the Bayard Public Library at its inception in 1936. The body is at the Starling Funeral Home in Bayard where the Rosary will be prayed tonight at 8 p.m. Requiem Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 am from the St Patrick's Catholic Church. The pastor, Rev James Freeman, will be celebrant. Joseph P Ewing will be organist and the casket will be carried by Bobbie McCool, Art Warren, Leonard Siedhoff, Edward Lyons, Harold Strauser and Fred Nance. Interment will be made in the Willow Cemetery.
