Mr Corbett is survived by his wife and their daughter Margaret Louise, also by his sister, Miss Margaret Corbett of Omaha, a brother Charles Corbett of Raymondville, Texas, and a number of nephews and nieces. BAYARD NEWS - Thursday, July 20th, 1944 - Death came Monday afternoon in an Omaha hospital to end the suffering of James Corbett, pioneer Bayard merchant, who has been in falling health for several months. Mr. Corbett had been in hospitals at Rochester, Minn. and Omaha but the most skilled doctors failed to do him any good. Jim, as Mr. Corbett was known to everyone who knew him, worked and prospered in the Drug business in Bayard and he would have observed his 40th anniversary in business in Bayard August 4, 1944. He was 68 years old at the time of his death, and with his passing goes one of the finest men anyone could ever have the privilege of knowing. He was especially fond of children and was a friend to all of them. He is survived by his widow and one daughter, Margaret Louise Corbett, and one brother, Charles of Texas, and one sister, Margaret Corbett of Omaha. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at nine from the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Bayard with the Rev. Father M.G. Kelliher saying the final Mass. Interment was made in the Willow cemetery. Casket bearers were Mike Brunner, Estel Strauser, Arthur Moylan, James Murrane, Merrill McKeon and Carl Boots.
