(Stalder-Beeman) Thrasher passed away peacefully at North Valley Nursing Home in Tonasket on May 5, 2006. She was born December 31, 1913, to Pine Creek pioneers, Karl and Lydia (Ruef) Stalder in Tonasket. She and her family lived on Pine Creek's Stalder Mountain. She attended the Oakes School and later went on to high school in Wenatchee. Family gatherings, card parties and other social gatherings where her dad played the Swiss accordion, gave her great memories of that area. Hard work on the farm was also a part of her heritage that was to influence her entire life in the beautiful Okanogan Valley. On her birthday of 1932, Ida married Chauncy Beeman. From that union there was one son, Chauncy (Bill) Beeman, their only child. They farmed/ranched for many years on the Pine Creek and Horse Spring Coulee ranches with cattle as their primary commodity. Ida was resourceful and practical with the strong and pleasant work ethic of her Swiss ancestry. During these years she often worked in town at the Tonasket Eagles, Lanes' Tavern and Bob's Inn. In July of 1966, Ida married Paul Thrasher of Oroville and lived on Lake Osoyoos where she would learn and participate in orchard life. They enjoyed a cabin at Lost Lake and often entertained friends and family. She worked part time at The Clothes Tree·a haven for a lady with style and love of fashion. Often she made lovely garments for herself, but her seamstress expertise was appreciated by the recipients of beautiful western shirts. She enjoyed a trip to Switzerland with relatives and spent time becoming acquainted with her Swiss cousins. Following a time of illness, Ida moved to the North Valley Assisted Living where she had resided since 2000. The residents and staff became "family" to her. She felt respected and loved by all. Ida's love for rodeo never wavered, nor did her love of watching the Mariners... win or lose, she was faithful to the end. She is survived by her husband, Paul of Oroville; one brother, Bill Stalder of Tonasket; one grandson, Bill Jr. (Janet) Beeman of Prineville, Oregon; three great-grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren and their families; plus numerous nieces and nephews. Ida was preceded in death by her son, Bill Beeman, Sr.; two granddaughters; one brother; and two sisters. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2006, 11:00 a.m. at the Bergh Chapel in Oroville with Pastor Vincent Larson, officiating. Interment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery. Viewing will be Tuesday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Bergh Chapel in Oroville. Memorials may be made to the Tonasket Rodeo Club, American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. Bergh Funeral Service of Oroville in care of arrangements.
