The Odebolt Chronicle - Thursday , November 26th, 1936 - (The left side of the newspaper copy was not visible) Beloved Wife and Mother Is Taken From Home After a Long Illness - Another home in this community was saddened by the loss of wife and mother, when death claimed Mrs. Lewis Brucker at home one mile east of town 5:50 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 1936. Mrs. Brucker has been in failing health from heart trouble for past year or thereabouts, and been worse during the summer but has been able to be up and the home most of the time untiI one month prior to her passing, when she became so ill that she was confined to her bed. Two months before her death she was taken with pneumonia, and in frail condition was unable to withstand the disease, and she passed away at the time stated. iMemoral services were held Saturday at the Methodist church, with the pastor, Rev. Lloyd Scheerer conducting the service. A mixed quartet, B. Traeder, G.F. Hilburn, Mrs. Marvin Friday and Mrs. J.B. ? sang, "Does Jesus Care", "Sometime We'll Understand' and "Abide with me." Minnie Kessler was accompanist. Those who carried her to her resting place in the Odebolt cemetery were neighbors, T. W. ?, E.A. Gunderson, Harry ?, Lloyd Babcock, Charles ?port and H.M. Buchanan. Ida D. Bair, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Israel Bair, was born Spring Valley, Kans. April 25, 1890, and at her death had reached age of 46 years, six months, and 25 days. She grew to womanhood in Kansas and Aug. 14, 1909 was united marriage at McPherson, Kansas to Lewis Brucker. After leaving from Kansas they established their home on a farm south of Arthur, living there until March when they moved to their current home east of Odebolt. Mrs Brucker attended the Christian church at Canton, Kansas as a young woman, but was baptized in the Odebolt Methodist church last Mother's Day. She was a member of the Rebekah lodge, was a charter member of the ? lodge here. She was a woman of a quiet and reserved nature, but was always faithful in her duties wherever she was. She was a home loving person not going out much, especially as her health had been poor, was a devoted wife and mother and her death coming so unexpectedly is a severe shock and to her family. She had the tender and loving care in her illness which she greatly appreciated. She was the mother of five children, all of whom with the husband are left to mourn. They are ? (Mrs. J.W. Carlson), Russell, ?, Zola and Harley, all of Odebolt, and all at home except Mrs Carlson, and one granddaughter Betty Ann Carlson. She also has three sisters, Mrs. Ed Smith Medford, Okla., Mrs. Frank ? of Fall River, Kans., and ? Harshie of Omaha. Three brothers, Ed Bair of Hydra, Okla., ? and Homer Bair of Canton?, Kansas. Her parents, one sister, Minnie, two brothers, John and William and one granddaughter, Arlene Carlson, preceded her death.
