Description	:	Ida J. Washburn, 88, of DeWitt, died Thursday, November 17 at Genesis Medical Center, DeWitt surrounded by her family. Ida was born in New Effington, South Dakota on December 31, 1916 to Josephine and Iver Quaal. She attended school in South Dakota and went on to Beauty School, after which she became a stylist until her marriage to George Washburn on February 20, 1943. They had 62 wonderful years together. Washburn, 88, of DeWitt, died Thursday, November 17 at Genesis Medical Center, DeWitt surrounded by her family. Ida was born in New Effington, South Dakota on December 31, 1916 to Josephine and Iver Quaal. She attended school in South Dakota and went on to Beauty School, after which she became a stylist until her marriage to George Washburn on February 20, 1943. They had 62 wonderful years together. During their marriage she was a devoted mother and wife and spent all of her time taking care of others, especially the elderly. Ida was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Calamus, New Hope Support Group, Hospital Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary of Calamus. She loved playing cards, writing letters, sending cards, her greatest love was baking. Her cookies and pies will be greatly missed by everyone. Survivors include her husband, George; two daughters, Mary Ann (Robert) Stuedemann of Clinton, Nancy (Allan) Elias of Davenport. Four grandchildren: Brian (Wanda) Elias of Calamus, Lisa Keller of Davenport, Troy (Nancy) Stuedemann of Clinton, Darcie (Chad) Melody of LeClaire. Five great-grandchildren: Savannah & Blake Elias, Cole and Abby Stuedemann and Collin Melody; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, one sister and two great grandchildren. Family and friends may visit from 2:00 until 5:00 on Sunday at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Funeral service 10:30 a. m. Monday, November 21, 2005 at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. The Rev. Sarah Kretzmann presiding. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Calamus.
