Born in Burton Community of Rochester to Fred and Mae MATHIAS MOORE, she married Robert G. BURWELL June 20, 1943 at Burton United Methodist Church, Rochester. He survives. Mrs. Burwell, a lifetime Burton Community resident until moving to Grace Village four years ago, was a kindergarten teacher over 30 years at Rochester Community Schools. Born in Burton Community of Rochester to Fred and Mae MATHIAS MOORE, she married Robert G. BURWELL June 20, 1943 at Burton United Methodist Church, Rochester. He survives. Mrs. Burwell, a lifetime Burton Community resident until moving to Grace Village four years ago, was a kindergarten teacher over 30 years at Rochester Community Schools. Her contribution to the field of education spanned over four decades. She was a member of Burton United Methodist Church, Indiana State Teachers Association, National Educators Association, Classroom Teachers Association and Phi Delta Kappa. She was a Manchester College graduate and was co-winner with her husband in 1995 of the Rochester & Lake Manitou Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award. Surviving with her husband, at home, are one daughter, Rev. Susanne L. BURWELL, Monona, Wisc.; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Preceding in death were her parents and two brothers, John [MOORE], in infancy, and Lee MOORE, in 1984. Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester, with Revs. Jill WALLEY and Laurence SMITH officiating. Burial is at Rochester IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday.
