May 28, 1920 -- Miss Ida Mae Dowse and Mr. Ira Wolford were united in marriage at Claflin yesterday and will be at home in that city to their friends after June 30. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.A. Dowse of Claflin and formerly of Hoisington. Mr. Wolford recently purchased a half interest in the Claflin Drug Store. The 1930 Claflin, Barton County, Kansas Census lists Ira Wolford, 37, and wife Ida, 37, with children: Bernard, 8; Lucille, 6; and Leon, 1. In 1940 son Richard, 8, has been added to the family. Ira is a druggist, both in 1930 and 1940. He is a veteran of the World War. From the Great Bend Tribune, May 14, 1973 -- Claflin -- Mrs. Ida May Wolford, 79, died Sunday morning at the Central Kansas Medical Center following a long illness. Born August 9, 1893 in Claflin, she was a lifetime resident there. On May 26, 1920, she married Ira A. Wolford at Claflin. He died November 6, 1960. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary, both in Claflin, and the Royal Neighbors. Survivors include three sons: Bernard, Wichita; Leon, Jacksonville, Florida; and Dick, San Diego, California; one daughter Mrs. Sam (Lucille) Eitel, Hutchison; one brother Glen Dowse, Claflin; two sisters Mrs. Erma Hansen, Claflin; and Mrs. Velma Zuecher, Hutchinson.
