Cummings Mrs. Geo. Cummings Dies Here at Age 79 Dated: October 17, 1952 Ottumwa, Wapello Co., Iowa Mrs. George A. Cummings, 79, of 157 South Fellows avenue, died Friday at the Ottumwa hospital at 12:45 p.m. The daughter of Aaron and Eliza Lucas Townsend, she was born near Alilene, Kan. July 5, 1873, and had lived in Ottumwa approximately 70 years. During her residence here she was a charter member of the Willard Street Methodist church. Her marriage to George A. Cummings took place in Ottumwa May 26, 1897. He preceded her in death March 1, 1937. Mrs. Cummings is survied by one son, Floyd D. Cummings of Oakland Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Nina C. Hirst of Denver, Colo.; three grandchildren, Floyd Jean Cummings of Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Joan C. Hobbs of Oakland, Calif.; and First Lt. Robert Craig Hirst in Korea with the army; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Fannie A. Clossen and Mrs. Josie Burnaugh, both of Ottumwa; and one brother, Alva F. Townsend of Wichita, Kan. Funeral services will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at the Willard Street Methodist church. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery. The casket will remain at the Johnson funeral chapel until noon Monday when it will be taken to the church. The family requests no flowers be sent.
