Born March 23, 1923 in Winsted, Ida was a lifelong resident of West Hartland. She is survived by her four children, Nancy O'Connor and her husband Richard O'Connor, of Buena Vista, Colo.; Barry Emerick of St. Paul, Minn., William H. Emerick Jr. and his wife Joan of West Hartland; Sherry Costanzo and her husband Robert of Berlin; five grandchildren, Roxanne Hansen and her husband Tyler Hansen, of Buena Vista, Colo.; Amber Glus and her husband Jeremy Glus, of Buena Vista, Colo.; Jeanette Emerick of West Hartland, and her fiancé Sterling Nesbitt of Goshen; and Robert and Gregory Costanzo of Berlin; one great-grandchild, Hope Hansen of Buena Vista, Colo.; two sisters, Josephine Rakyta of Winsted and Catherine Gedney of Enfield; also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph Cartelli, Dominic Cartelli and Carmen Cartelli; three sisters, Ernestine Miller, Mary Brusky and Pauline Giansircusa; as well as one great grandchild, Patrick Hansen of Buena Vista, Colo. Ida was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Winsted; she also joined the West Hartland Second Congregational Church where her husband William "Bucky" Emerick, Sr. had been a lifelong member. Ida was also a lifelong member of the Riverton Fair Association; a member of the Hartland Ladies Guild, as well as the West Hartland Cemetery Association. She will be remembered for her love of her family, wildlife, flowers, especially her rose garden. Her family will deeply miss her, as well as her dedicated and loving caregivers — to whom the family will be forever in their debt. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at the Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted, CT from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 31 Oak Street, Winsted, CT on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 11 a.m. Burial will be at the West Hartland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Attention: Tribute Gifts, Church Street Station, P. O.
