Description	:	Mrs. Ida Gilbert Buried Here Monday Morning Funeral services were conducted Monday morning at 10 o'clock at the Grace Bible church for Mrs. Ida Gilbert, age 80, who passed away Sept. 20 at Altadena, Calif. The Rev. J.L. Garland was in charge of the services. Pallbearers were Earl Kamrath, Paul Hasenpflug, A.C. McKown, Henry Sebade, Charles Zepf and Troy Stingley. Ida Ruth Shanklin was born June 28, 1870 near Maynard, Ia., the daughter of Charles M. and Harriet Rich Shanklin, the youngest of nine children. When two years of age she came with her parents and settled on a farm two miles north of Winnetoon, the home being a one room sod house. The trip was made in a prairie schooner. Later they moved to a farm two and one half miles west and one north of Creighton. Mrs. Gilbert attended rural school and later Creighton high school. She taught in Knox and Antelope counties and in Iowa and Washington. She was married to Charles F. Gilbert Jan. 1, 1902. To this union were born five children, three of whom died in infancy. Mrs. Gilbert was a member of the Baptist church since Sept. 22, 1901 and was church clerk for 10 years. She was a member of the aid society and mission circle and also a member of the Bazile ladies aid. She donated many quilts and toys for the children of the Nebraska Home and the Crippled Childrens Home in Omaha. Surviving are two sons, Alfred M. and Francis I., both of California; two grandchildren; a niece at Sioux City, Ia. and other relatives. Her husband preceded her in death Dec. 1, 1935.
