She was born October 27, 1903, near Logan, Iowa, to August J. Podendorf and Cora E. Williams Podendorf. She graduated from Little Sioux High School, Drake University, and received her Masters Degree from the State University of Iowa. She was born October 27, 1903, near Logan, Iowa, to August J. Podendorf and Cora E. Williams Podendorf. She graduated from Little Sioux High School, Drake University, and received her Masters Degree from the State University of Iowa. Her teaching experience included Lewis, Iowa, Newton, Iowa, and Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was an instructor at the University of Chicago Laboratory School and served as head of the Elementary Science Program, retiring in 1970. She contributed to the elementary science field by her writing of science books for children. She had been a resident of Onawa for the last five years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church; Chapter E.F., PEO; and the National Science Association. Survivors include one sister, Vada Holmes, Little Sioux, Ia.; one brother, Quentin J. Podendorf, Manly, Ia.; one niece, Mrs. Robert (Stephanie Podendorf) Long, Mobile, Ala.; and five great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Corlys Arthur Podendorf. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 27, 1983, at the United Methodist Church at Onawa with Rev. Herbert Foxworthy officiating. Interment was in the Logan cemetery at Logan, Iowa. Onawa Democrat: Thurs., 30 June 1983
