Description	:	Imogene "Jean" O'Steen Mrs. Imogene O' Steen, 73, died March 2, 2007 at her home in rural Alachua, Fla, following a three-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. Born in Trenton, Fla., Mrs. O' Steen has lived in Alachua for the last 70 years. She graduated from Alachua High School and after attending Jones Business College in Jacksonville, worked for a time at the Florida Times Union. She had a love for life, family, working with plants, being outdoors, and being able to attract birds to her birdfeeders. She was a very gentle and kind person. Mrs. O' Steen was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton A. O' Steen; one sister, Barbara Green Edwards, of Crystal River, Fla., two brothers, William W. Green, of Norfolk, Va., and Glenward D. Green, of Jacksonville, Fla. She is survived by her daughter, Carla O' Steen Mullins, of Alachua; her mother, Lorene Green, 95, of Williston, Fla.; two grandsons, Ronnie and Josh Mullins; a granddaughter, Sarah; two brothers, George W. Green Jr., of Alachua and Albert Green, of Immokalee, Fla., and two sisters, Wilma J. Green, of Williston, and Ruby J. Green, of Gainesville. Funeral services for Mrs. O'Steen were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2007 in the sanctuary of Forest Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Warren Chesser officiating. Interment followed in Forest Grove Cemetery. Evans-Carter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
