She was preceded in death by four of her eight children: Barbara Jean Green Edwards, Crystal River, FL, Glenward David Green, Jacksonville, FL, William Windlon Green, Norfolk, VA, and Imogene (Jean) O'Steen, Alachua, FL. Born in Trenton, FL, she has lived her entire life in this area, having lived in Trenton, Bronson, Alachua and Archer. While growing up in Trenton, she attended Red Hollow Elementary School through the third grade. Though she may have lacked a formal education, she had great knowledge and common sense that was passed on to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren during her long life. While living in Archer the past 50 years, she helped many people. She was the "go to" person when someone needed a ride to the doctor's, to get groceries, or other errands. She never turned anyone away who needed help. She willingly helped, usually without pay or gas money, because she had a love for people and helping them in their need. She was awarded many earthly accolades, awards, citations and plaques for her many years of volunteer service with the "Meals on Wheels" program. In 2005, she was honored with being named Archer Citizen of the Month for her long years of dedicated service. She was awarded many "hand claps" and thanked with many bibles for her years of preparing the floral arrangements for the Nazarene Church. She was also very active in the Church of Jesus Christ with Brother & Sister Beck. She worked long and hard to prepare food for the many church fundraisers. Mrs. Green is survived by two sons, Albert Roscoe Green, Immokalee, FL, George W. Green, Jr., Alachua, FL, and two daughters, Wilma Jean (Cookie) Green, Williston, FL, and Ruby Jean Green, Gainesville, FL, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She dearly loved her family. Services for Mrs. Green will be held Mon., Sept. 17, 2007 in Milam Funeral Home's chapel, Newberry, FL. The family will receive friends at 10:00 am, followed by the service at 11:00am. Friends are invited to join the family for food and friendship in the Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church, Newberry, immediately following burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Archer, FL.
