Description	:	Mary Imogene Ward Christensen, 98, Bismarck, died Jan. 1, 2011. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Bismarck, with the Rev. Brian Gross officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bismarck Funeral Home, with a rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Imogene was born in Bismarck Hospital on Dec. 10, 1912, to Ralph David Ward and Emma Jane Stevens Ward. She attended primary and secondary school in Bismarck and Minnewaukan; Palm Bay, Fla. She graduated from North Dakota State University with a B.A. and Utah State University with an M.A. She worked for the Dayton Hudson department store in Minneapolis and then the extension services of the states of North Dakota, Washington and Alaska. In Ketchikan, Alaska, she met and married Cyril Byron Christensen. Later in life, she became a high school teacher and taught at the Klamath Trinity Unified High School on the Hoopa Indian Reservation in Northern California and the Arroyo Grande High School in Arroyo Grande, Calif. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Claire Christensen; son, Christopher Ward Christensen; her sister, Claire Ward Engelhardt; granddaughter, Natasha Christensen; grandson, Mathew Christensen; and three great-grandsons, Stephen, Blaze and Toumas.
