Garcia, 78, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She was born on January 19, 1931 in Ft. Madison, Iowa to Lucio and Josefa Diaz Puga and raised by her Godparents, Romana and Asension Moralez. On October 27, 1951 she married Vernave Garcia; he passed away on September 4, 1971. She retired from Sheaffer Pen Co., and worked as a Nurse's Aide for Mobile Health Care following her retirement. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Holy Family Parish and the Altar & Rosary Society, she was a former member of the LULAC. Agnes loved her Bible Study Class. She was a Eucharistic Minister at Church and also for the homebound. Agnes enjoyed reading, sewing and feeding the birds. She also enjoyed listening to music, playing her violin, and working with her flowers. She also loved to attend her grandchildren's sporting events. Survivors include one son, Vernave "Bernie" ( Barbara) Garcia of Burlington, IA; five daughters, Alicia (Michael) Bloomberg of Yarmouth, IA, Belinda (Michael) Holland of Franklin, IA, Consuelo (David Lair) Garcia of Coralville, IA, Teresa Garcia of Ft. Madison and Julie Garcia of Ft. Madison; ten grandchildren, Jarrod, Lucio, Ian, Reina, Ryan, Vernave, Javier, Nellie, Alejandro & Gabriel; two great grandchildren, Rione & Isaac; one brother, Henry Puga of Ft. Madison; one sister, Carmen Guzman of Burlington and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Pedro; two brothers in infancy, Carlitos & Josecito; two sisters, Mary and Seferina. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, February 13th at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Mark Spring officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday after 3 PM at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with the family to receive friends from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home. A rosary will be at 7 PM at the funeral home.
