Ione L., daughter of George and Emma (Schnaible) Eberhart, was born January 12, 1923, southwest of Eureka in Campbell County. This is where she grew up while attending country school. She worked on the family farm. In the early 1950's her family moved into Eureka. Ione worked at the Eureka Hospital in the housekeeping department for 12 years during the 1950's and 1960's. She also helped her father clean the Evangelical Brethren Church for more than 20 years. Ione has been a longtime resident at Avera Eureka Health Care Center. Prior to living there, she was a resident at the Lutheran Home in Eureka where she led Devotions on the third floor. She would sing "God Will Take care of You," followed by reading Psalm 23. Ione lived 28 years in nursing facilities and had made many friends throughout the years. Ione loved to clean, making sure everything was in its place. She had a strong love of family and always enjoyed visiting with them and friends. She was a life member of Eureka United Methodist Church and a former choir member. Ione is survived by one sister, Loretta Rau, of Aberdeen; one sister-in-law, LaVide Eberhart; seven nieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Leslie, Ruben and Vernon and one niece. Urn bearer will be Kevin Rau. Carlsen Funeral Home, Eureka.
