Daily Ledger Saturday October 6, 1934 Obituary IRA EDD PARSONS Ira Eddie Parsons or Edd as he is known to his many friends passed from life into eternity, Monday morning at 8:10 o'clock. On April 1st Mr. Parsons was injured in an automobile wreck but he was seemingly improving and all hoped he would soon be in his usual health, but alas it was not to be. Friday morning after a walk up town he returned home and began some chores as is Edd's custom never to be idle. He suffered a stroke and fell. The best of medical skill worked over him to no avail. He lay in an unconscious condition until Monday morning at 8:10 when he quietly and peacefully fell into his last long sleep. Edd was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Balden (sic. Baldwin) Parsons. Born in 1860 near Parsonsville. He being the eldest of the family the responsiblities of rearing the family of younger brothers and sisters fell up on his shoulders, but Edd was never known to shirk or complain. In early manhood he was united in marriage to Miss May Parks. After three years of happy wedded life the wife was summoned home. A few years later he was married to Miss Balzora Lowe and they lived a happy wedded life until now when the grim reaper has taken the husband. Their home was on a farm near Salina community twelve years ago when they retired and moved to Birmingham, where Mr. Parsons passed away. Besides his heart broken wife he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Nellie Thompson of Salina and Mrs. Muriel Glaha (sic.) of Birmingham. Six grandchildren and two great-grand sons. Three brothers in Jefferson county, George, Trueman and Dell and James. One brother Henry and the only sister Mrs. Ella Harrah of California, preceeded him in death. Edd was a kind husband, loving father and grandfather. A good neighbor and a friend to all those who knew him. Honest in all his relationships. He was raised a Methodist, staunch and true. His life work is over. The loved ones have the sympathy of their friends. Funeral services were held at the home on Wednesday at two p.m. by Rev. Howard C. Irvine of the Presbyterian church in Birmingham. Interment in the Maple Hill cemetery.
