Ira Day who for some years lived in Chico, died at Jonesville Thursday night after a short illness, the fatal disease being pneumonia. Mr. Day had been spending a few weeks at Prattville and on his way home to West Branch he was taken ill at Jonesville. Deceased was the son of L.E. Day, widely known in this county. ~~~ 26-year-old Ira E. Day was interred, per the Chico Cemetery Association Records, in the plot noted, on September 1, 1895 (there is no marker). ~~~ Chico Daily Chronicle Record, Saturday Morning, September 7, 1895, pg 1 col 6: Ira Day Laid to Rest. The funeral of Ira Day, who died at Jonesville Thursday evening after a short illness took place yesterday morning. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Hathaway, the sermon being preached at the grave. The pall bearers were C.W. Thomas, A.B. Collins, Wm. McGann, Paul Lucas, Boone Lucas and L.A. Jackson.
