Fauss, 83, of Hooper will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper. She died Sunday, May 19, 1996, at Hooper Care Center. Irene Popken was born Sept. 14, 1912, on the family farm near Scribner. She married Earl Fauss Sept. 19, 1933, at Swaburg. The couple traveled the state as her husband was working in construction, and in 1946, they settled in Hooper. The couple then started Fauss Construction Company in Hooper. She worked in the office of their company for many years. Her husband died Jan. 2, 1988. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper and its WELCA, Smiles Club, Friendship Chapter 122 Order of Eastern Star of Hooper, Sat Ra Temple Daughters of the Nile of Omaha, and Fremont Nile Club. Survivors include two sons, Ron and David, both of Hooper; three brothers, Ben Popken of Scribner, Herman Popken of Uehling, and Lorenz Popken of Hooper; a sister, Martha Evert of Hooper; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, a sister and three brothers. The Rev. Greg Berger will officiate Wednesday's service. There will be no visitation. Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.
